THE MOTHERSHIP IS DOWN!

One of the effects of the shutdown of the federal government is the (hopefully temporary) shuttering of the National Archives.  Does such a huge organization simply give in and stay home while this is happening?  That remains to be seen, but take a look at how NARA is currently running on a contingency plan, in the meantime.

Library Journal has commented on the shutdown of NARA, the Library of Congress, and the Institute of Museum and Library Services.  Things are looking dire, but on the plus side, public libraries in D.C were declared essential, and will remain open.  Thanks for the props, D.C. mayor!
